penemuel: (The Red and the Black by Penemuel)
Y'know, I should never make plans. Coyote knows when I make plans...

I took 2 weeks off work at the end of the year, fully planning to watch "Mind the Baby" and work on the next section of 'The Red and the Black', and finish my CLFF Wave 7 piece, and work on art, and do a total relaunch of my website on January 1st...

Well, Halfway though my vacation, I had a massive directory failure on my 1GB compact flash card that all of my stories, other peoples stories, and website stuff is on. Most of it is backed up on my hard drive, but the new versions of all of the website stuff wasn't. Basically, the "My Documents" directory vanished. All of the data was still there, but all of a sudden, none of it was in a file structure at all. After running Norton Utilities on it, I ended up with over 10 thousand .chk files. Over 10,000 files to look at and figure out what is what. Over 10,000 files to look at and try to find the new ones that aren't backed up anywhere...

Needless to say, I'm nowhere NEAR done with this. It's taken days. I've had a few breaks, because there's only so long you can go through .chk files before you go absolutely nutty. I've organized them into folders holding the different size files, and gotten rid of all the ones over 1000k (most of them are pdf collections of fic, all of which mercifully were in the backups). I've started going through the smaller ones, now, figuring that the newer website things are either in the 32k, the 48k, or the 16k. Personally, I'm hoping most of them aren't in the latter, because there's about 6000 of those... Still a hugely daunting task.

So, anyway, no time to watch Farscape DVD's, no time to write stories, because I'm still trying to find the ones I had finished but hadn't archived yet. Argh.

My buddy Coyote. He's laughing his butt off right now.

You know, Coyotes look really silly without their tails ;)

Oh dear...

I think I need to admit that I really, honestly, do want to rule the world... Just to keep the idiots in check, of course!

Should I mention that I took German in high school? :)

I took this test and got:

(Submissive Introvert Abstract Thinker )

Like just 8% of the population you are a MASTERMIND (SIAT). You can be silent and withdrawn, but behind your reserved exterior lies an active mind that allows you to analyze situations and come up with creative, unexpected solutions. Normal people call this "scheming." Don't learn German.

Anyway, your sense of style and originality are your strengths, and people will respect your judgment once they get to know you. If you learn to be a little more personable, you could be a great leader--you've definitely got the "vision" thing down. Just make sure all the plotting you do behind those eyes of yours is healthy.

Famous masterminds in television: Dr. Claw, The Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Montgomery Burns.

Okay, there have GOT to be people out there who want to post slashy art on the Creative forum. There must be!!

It's a forum for really great digital artwork, and the stuff there is really, really beautiful, but I feel like I'm drowning in het stuff. Especially Sam/Jack from Stargate SG-1 (hives -- even now, I'm breaking out in hives...). I've posted some slashy stuff there, and every now and then a couple of other folks do, but there's an overwhelming slant towards het art.

I want to see more slashy art! LotR (I'm starting to think I've got some kind of incest-kink... First Luthorcest, now this...), SV, Buffyverse, SG-1, Farscape, Harry Potter, SW, Enterprise, whatever!

I'd be especially pleased if someone did some 'The Shadow' art... ;) Although I'm guessing I'll have to do that all myself. ::sigh::

Ghod, I'm such a demanding bitch...

About 9000 .chk files to go...
